I met Brenda a few years ago while working downtown, so I was delighted when she contacted me the other month telling me about her 10-year wedding anniversary coming up! They decided that part of their celebration would be getting new photos taken and we set about deciding where and when. During out chats, it came up that they loved the city scene – the busyness, the lights, the small tucked-away restaurants waiting to be explored, so we naturally thought of Gastown as our location. I knew they wanted something a little unique so I suggested going out after dark, and they were totally down :). As night settled over the city, with coffees in hand, we set out into the streets. We even found a new tucked-away ice-cream shop to explore along the way :).
Part of what I love about my job is really connecting with people. As previous coworkers, I knew the hard-working, diligent side of Brenda. But to get to meet the care-free, fun-loving, silly side of her and her husband when out casually for a shoot made me wish I had connected more often and sooner. I love getting to share glimpses into people’s lives, and I love that photography allows me to do so.
So without further ado, here are a few of my personal favourites from the evening:
