I met Jennifer and Elijah at the Tri-City Wedding Show last Spring and we hit it off right away. This couple is fun, spunky, game for anything, and they have a terrific sense of humour. Nick and I spent the evening with them last Summer doing their e-shoot at Stanley Park (exactly one year ago today!) and have been looking forward to their wedding ever since.
Their wedding day finally arrived a couple of weeks ago, and it was the perfect stormy day. Lest you think I am being sarcastic, I’m not! I love a good rain during a shoot. I am only sad that the downpour stopped before we could break out the off-camera lighting and get some really sweet stuff during their mid-day portrait session. They had their entire day planned out at one single location – Heron’s Bridge – in Abbotsford. This is, hands down, my new favourite venue. The girls got ready in a large guest house located on the far edge of the property, while the guys did the same at a family member’s home down the road. Jennifer and Elijah then had their first look on the bridge itself before commencing with their portraits all around the gorgeous property. Thankfully, though, the sun broke through in time for the outdoor ceremony by the water’s edge, which was followed up by a tented reception over by the main house.
I ended up feeling more like family than a hired vendor by the end of their intimate reception, and we wished the couple goodbye as they wrapped up for the evening with one last shot in the gathering darkness. A wonderful wedding for a wonderful couple whom I am excited to continue my friendship with in the future!
