I first met Holly and Luis at one of my favourite places (Starbucks!). I am shooting her co-worker’s wedding later on in the season and she introduced us. Holly and Luis have been together and in love for a number of years now, but April 2nd marked the day they tied the knot, and it was an uncharacteristically bright and sunny day on the Coast here just for them!
After stopping at (you guessed it – Starbucks), I met up with Holly at Filomena Salon and Spa in Coquitlam where she was getting her hair and makeup done. The two of us hung out and then headed back to their place for lunch where I met more of the family who had flown in for the special occasion. Everyone was so happy and so relaxed! After a nice lunch together, Holly got ready with her bridesmaids (who were also her daughters) upstairs while Luis finished up downstairs. Afterwards, we did a quick “first look” before heading off to St. Catherine’s Anglican Church in Port Coquitlam where we met the rest of the family. It was a very intimate and small ceremony with only a handful of close people attending.
In the afternoon, we stopped at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody very briefly, and then did the rest of our mid-day shoot at Barnet Marine Park, which is a lot more secluded. Next we headed downtown to Vancouver’s Black + Blue Restaurant for a family dinner reception. I have to say it was very challenging shooting in the small private room and then a few portraits in the over-crowded restaurant, but it was SO much fun! I love the challenge of getting creative in a limited space, and some of my favourite images of the day were captured there.
We bid them good evening nice and early (well, early for a wedding anyways!), and let them continue to celebrate into the night with their families and friends.
I love your use of light! It is gorgeous!
Thank you so much! I love playing with light <3
