I’m feeling conflicted with my family photography lately. I’ve been pondering how to merge my personal style of shooting, with a more “family shoot” vibe, and also still get those classic shots families want.
When I shoot my own children, I have environmental portraits of them exploring the world around them, and I feel like these are timeless, and I LOVE them.

When I shoot families, I try to focus on all the love and interaction and emotion.

Yet, also still get classic shots like this that I know mom and dad want.

But then my heart keeps wandering back to the storytelling images. The ones of hopping rocks in the forest, and the candid looks caught glancing up, completely unposed.

So I feel like I’m at a cross roads. I’m not sure how to merge the two styles or if they can be merged. I might just need to get rid of my smallest package and leave myself room to deliver all of the things!
