A question I often stop and ask myself is, “Will this matter when I’m 80?” Will being the best at anything – cooking, cleaning, your career, etc. really bring you joy in your last days? Will you look back and think, “Wow, that was an excellent meal plan I made back in the summer of 2012!” or will you remember the people and the love that filled your life?
This family wanted me to capture “them”. Nothing more. Nothing less. Just who they are, right now, in this season. When Sunday afternoons were filled with lazy cuddles, reheated coffees, tiny humans, and lots of love. These are images that I take for granted sometimes with two photographers in our house and a camera always sitting on the mantle. These are images that are burned in the back of our memories as mommas, but which don’t always get to be documented, printed, saved, and thumbed through by our children in years to come. Images that bring back the, “remember when?”
Remember when dad used to play guitar for us on the weekends? Remember when baby sister learned to walk? Remember when we thought the sleepless nights would never end and coffee was our best friend? Remember when the house was noisy? Remember when ….
