I think my latest obsession this year is the ocean at sunset. Despite the fact that I love to shoot close to home for obvious reasons, I always think it’s worth the drive to go a little farther out for those grey/blue tones and dramatic skies. Also, your shoot is guaranteed to be unique because there is no way to predict what the evening’s background canvass will look like.

Sam and Matt met me out at Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver last week for their engagement photos, and they were troopers. Well, anyone that does their photos in that location has to be up for some exertion as the best spots are a hike in and back out again.

We were half hoping for some pink or purple hues, but instead a storm rolled in last minute so we went with it and created some dramatic images to match the mood.

Honestly, I had so much fun and love shooting out there despite the fact that I try really hard to pretend that I’m all cool as we hike around because I’m about as in shape as a professional couch-potato. But when you have great company like these two, you feel free to lower your pride and just admit that you’re dying. However, still totally worth it ;).
these are gorgeous! they must be so happy with them! also, Imma need her to send me that dress 😉
Thank you! Yeah, when she pulled out that dress and the storm clouds rolled in, I was like yaaasss!! Haha.
